Synechron, Inc., a leading digital transformation consulting firm focused exclusively on the global financial services industry, today announced it has won the top award for best ‘Team of the Year’ in the inaugural edition of US FinTech Awards 2021. The US FinTech Awards is organized by FinTech Intel, the global market intelligence platform for financial services technology. This award win was announced recently during a virtual award ceremony. The judges expressed how impressed they were with the technical abilities of this highly regarded team that builds cutting-edge platforms, models, digital tools and more, all catering to the specifications and needs of Synechron’s clients.
This ‘Team of the Year’ award was bestowed upon Synechron in recognition of team leader and mentor Anantha Sharma, Synechron’s Director – Innovations & Data Science, in the Charlotte, NC office, and his A-Team of six US- and India-based young data scientists who continually work together as a cohesive problem-solving team. The A-Team members rally their data science and industry-focused skills toward building real-world solutions and viable Proofs of Concept, all toward meeting clients’ business needs and driving efficiencies. A-Team members currently include: Alekhya Akkinepally, Saumya Banthia, Moin Chauhan, Paritosh Kalla, Sharath Kancharia and Sravanajyothi N.
The prestigious, US FinTech Awards 2021 program was developed to celebrate the outstanding FinTech marketplace for financial services in the US and reward the achievements and success of the US’ best and brightest, as judged by an independent panel of industry experts.
Anantha Sharma, Synechron’s Director – Innovations & Data Science, said in reaction to this award, “I am so pleased that our talented Synechron A-Team of budding data scientists is being recognized for all of their innovative ideas, passion for often thinking outside of the box, and tenacity toward ideating, creating and implementing creative solutions that greatly benefit businesses.” He added, “We originally created the A-Team in 2018 with data science interns, fresh out of college and then working at Synechron. Along the way team members have changed. But we highly encourage each of our A-Team’s individuals to work collaboratively to thoroughly understand a current business problem of financial services’ clients, garner exposure to how things really work in the everyday world, and then innovate targeted solutions.”
Sharma and his A-Team have repeatedly published technical papers about their work in Natural Language Processing, classification and Deep Learning, in addition to engaging in hands-on development of multiple data science-led solutions. These real-world tools have included: ideation, creation and deployment of a data science-rich model to process data in under 15 minutes that previously took a full 40 hours to run; building a novel Model Lifecycle Management platform; crafting a Natural Language Processing model to interpret, simplify and interact with legal documents; creating a unique tool using Differential Privacy that uses complex mathematical models to add noise to data and safeguard private information while training models; and recently dabbling in data extractions from images in a video clip that can determine an individual’s health.
Kishor Kumar, Managing Director, and Head of the Charlotte, NC Business Unit of Synechron, said, “We are fortunate to have such an enthusiastic, cross-global team of astute and impassioned data scientists, led and directed by the highly talented Anantha Sharma, working for Synechron. We congratulate the dedication and resilience of our A-Team in winning this award.” He added, “Always working in tandem, our A-Team embodies our company’s core values, including ambition, empowerment, and a limitless drive for innovation & excellence. This combination of these key attributes, along with our A-Team’s heightened desire toward uniquely innovating and enhancing our financial services client’s business efficiencies, is what Synechron is proud to continue building its reputation on.”
Mark Dugdale, editor of FinTech Intel, the fintech marketing intelligence platform behind the US FinTech Awards 2021, said, "Collaboration and teamwork are crucial to the success of FinTech. Without the best talent and finest minds working together, we wouldn't have many of the excellent products and services that were celebrated at the US FinTech Awards 2021." He added, "The team at Synechron, led by Anantha Sharma, embodies the spirit of this award while demonstrating what individuals can achieve when they work together for the benefit of many and varied enterprise clients."
