This South Australian government department identified an opportunity to modernize its monitoring and auditing of thousands of subcontractor maintenance jobs across the state. The previous process relied heavily on manual investigation, expertise-based pattern recognition and static Excel/Access reporting, making it difficult to detect inefficiencies, cost blowouts or unusual transactions at scale. Audits were reactive and insights limited by fragmented data and labour-intensive workflows.

Synechron modernized the approach by replacing manual Access and Excel processes with a unified Azure and Power BI analytics environment. A robust model integrated corporate data warehouse information with Azure analytical capabilities, enabling sophisticated investigation of maintenance jobs over time. Interactive dashboards surfaced anomalies and patterns instantly, empowering experts to interrogate data directly and enabling proactive, targeted auditing.
