The Challenge

Banking in the UAE faces key challenges in terms of accessibility and the user experience. Customer onboarding is hindered by identity verification friction − requiring a physical EID card and in-person branch visits. Existing school payment apps are limited, reducing the user experience, and no tailored banking solutions for teenagers existed, leaving a gap in the market. Finally, payment processes across banking services aren’t seamless, meaning transaction inefficiencies.

The Solution

To enhance banking accessibility in the UAE, we implemented a mandatory in-app UAE pass integration, removing the need for physical EID verification. This enabled a seamless digital onboarding experience by eliminating wet signatures for account opening and debit/prepaid products. School fee payment services were upgraded, with additional features, improving usability.

Additionally, we introduced a dedicated teen banking solution, addressing a key market gap and empowering young users with tailored financial tools.

Our Process

We analyzed market trends, mapped user journeys, designed workflows, built high-fidelity prototypes, and delivered an MVP with a structured sprint plan.

Product mapping: We defined key user journeys and features, mapped technology requirements, conducted API analysis, and built a service blueprint with cross-functional teams.

Journey development: We created information architecture, detailed user flows, and wireframes, while defining the future technology architecture.

Final designs: We conducted design reviews and usability tests, leading to high-fidelity UI designs and a functional prototype for stakeholder validation.
