Real-time IoT and analytics for Managing Water Events

Our customer, a national water provider, needed a modern way to manage wastewater blockages, overflows and odor events. Existing processes were reactive and relied on issues being reported before crews could respond. Fragmented performance data limited opportunities for predictive monitoring and improved service planning. A scalable, real-time platform was required to support accurate detection, richer insights and proactive network management.

Synechron delivered a modular, secure and extensible Azure-based smart wastewater platform unifying IoT sensor data, corporate information and real-time analytics. Hundreds of field sensors captured wastewater levels, odor, rainfall and weather conditions. Stream Analytics and Databricks enabled real-time ingestion, alerting and pattern detection. Interactive dashboards supported operational visibility, device management, threshold configuration and workflow initiation, while deep learning models enhanced predictive monitoring and long-term optimization.
