    The Challenge

    A top tier European bank was concerned by the inherent technology risks in its US swaps and treasuries application suite. It was feared this could impact its ability to recover and support the business following a significant failure of individual application components.

    The client wanted a holistic view on the recovery and resilience profile of individual applications and the entire application suite. This meant a set of prioritized remediation requirements leading to service improvement workstreams was required.

    The Solution

    Our senior technical architects leveraged the Synechron Application Risk Assessment framework, using an interview-led review, to uncover latent risks across all 50 in-scope applications. These risk findings were ordered into themes, with remediation plans presented by complexity, cost and specific risk to the business (in case of failure).

    Fundamental issues ranged from capacity and legacy hardware, to cultural issues, which became apparent within the support teams.
