Synechron Partners with Girls in Tech to Tackle Diversity in Technology Thursday, March 29, 2018 - New York, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Dubai, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai
Synechron Inc., the global financial services consulting and technology services provider, has today announced a strategic partnership with Girls in Tech, a global non-profit dedicated to the engagement, education and empowerment of women in technology. Together, they will tackle the need for greater diversity and inclusion within the technology industry through a collaborative recruitment market and diversity hiring initiative across Synechron’s global offices with a key focus on New York and India (Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai).
Gender inequality and diversity remain key issues around the globe, particularly in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Through a program of education, the partnership between Synechron and Girls in Tech will play a crucial role in addressing the diversity imbalance and helping to develop the tech workforce. In addition, it will offer community outreach and engagement, provide new skills for the tech workforce and support STEM education.
The initiative is a crucial part of Synechron’s ongoing commitment to drive diversity and inclusion in the workplace, particularly in the fields of STEM, where women remain comparatively underrepresented and according to the ISACA, 48% of women said that lack of mentors is the top barrier experienced by women in technology. The partnership will provide Synechron access to the Girls in Tech recruitment platform, a robust and formidable network of graduates and young, mid-career, and senior professionals in the technology space.
The platform will support Synechron’s recruitment initiatives, particularly within the fields of coding programs Java and Angular and reinforces its commitment to ensuring diversity in its hiring process. In addition to providing access to its own talent pool, spanning 36 countries, Girls in Tech will also market Synechron’s recruitment drive across its social media channels. This will enable Synechron to broaden its reach and engage with quality candidates across the globe.
John Gaunt, Chief Human Resources Officer at Synechron, said, "Inclusion and diversity are fundamental to our culture, and we are delighted to be partnering with Girls in Tech to highlight the importance of this issue. We strongly believe that a diverse workforce helps build stronger, successful businesses. Women remain a minority within the STEM fields and we are committed to redressing the imbalance and providing women with the skills and knowledge they require. We want to show that solutions don’t need to be costly or complicated; by working together with a fantastic organization like Girls in Tech we can work towards building an equal future for everyone. This is a great initiative that supports our larger Employee 2020 initiative to be a globally responsible organization."
Adriana Gascoigne, Founder and CEO of Girls in Tech, commented, "As 2018 gets underway, there remain significant barriers to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and through our partnership with Synechron, we aim to tackle these challenges head-on. It is our mission to engage and encourage women and increase diversity in the workplace by supporting companies on their recruitment efforts through our extensive, worldwide network. We are thrilled to be working with Synechron, who have demonstrated both passion and commitment to creating a level playing field within tech. Through education, we can empower girls and women around the globe and help build a stronger workforce - one where women are equally represented."
