Big Data Lead

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects end-to-end and work with team and stakeholders to deliver quality products per stringent timelines
  • Plan the development tasks, work out the plan, risks, and issues with stakeholders, and ensure development is on track
  • Contribute as an expert throughout the full development life cycle, including: requirements analysis, functional design, technical design, programming, testing, documentation, implementation, and on-going technical support
  • Analyze specifications and perform program/database design activities
  • Expertise in design and development of Big Data applications using Hive and Hbase
  • Good hands-on experience in Java web services
  • Will need to work upon Apache HBase and Spark
  • Well-versed in complex Hive QL using analytical functions
  • Translate business needs (BRD) into effective technical solutions and documents (FRD/TSD/MDD/ERD)
  • Experience in fine tuning Big Data applications to improve the overall performance
  • Nurture talent and contribute towards knowledge development of team
  • Ability and willingness to learn newer tools used for build and deployments and contribute in SIT/UAT deployments as well
  • Support business decisions with ad hoc analysis as needed
  • Apply analytical skills to solve a business problem and present before stakeholders all the options to take the best approach possible
  • Liaise with global stakeholders and effectively communicate to be influential within the Global AML Landscape

Job Requirements:

  • At least 9 years of Application Development experience through the full lifecycle, with at least 2+ years of experience in leading projects
  • Strong Software Development Lifecycle Management experience
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Big Data including Hadoop, Hive, and other technologies in Cloudera’s CDH distribution
  • Good hands-on experience in HBase and Spark
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Java technology using web services
  • Good knowledge and experience with Oracle Database and SQL 
  • Good knowledge of Linux/Unix
  • Knowledge of Build and Deployment tools like Bit Bucket, RLM, and Service Now

Other Skills:

  • Proven ability to work with teams that are geographically separated 
  • Should be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as candidate is expected to work with onshore & near-shore teams
  • Experience in leading a team of resources as needed
  • Should be able to lead end-to-end project including development, requirement gathering and stakeholder management
  • Willingness to work late in the evening India time on an as-needed basis in order to interact with the US onshore team and to meet urgent requests by clients

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in science, computers, information technology or engineering)
