Backend Developer (Java)

Our Challenge

As a Backend Developer (Java), you will use your 20+ years of experience as a full-time software developer to collaborate globally while delivering software solutions for critical applications across the business. You should be open to learning Kotlin as a replacement for Java and be able to create fully automated test suites across the test pyramid. 


  • Working with local and remote geographically dispersed teams 
  • Delivering software solutions for mission critical applications 
  • Designing and delivering cloud native applications and solutions 


You are:

  • A Computer Science or Software Engineering graduate OR you have relevant industry experience 
  • Equipped with 20+ years of experience working as a full-time software developer 
  • Familiar with SDLC and CI/CD 
  • Equipped with 5+ years of experience in developing Java/Kotlin server-side applications 
  • Open to learning and using Kotlin as a replacement for Java 
  • Experienced in asynchronous message driven systems using Kafka or similar technologies 
  • Highly proficient in Unix/Linux based systems 
  • Equipped with relational database design experience; design effective schema and creating and understanding potentially complex SQL 
  • Experienced in designing and delivering REST based APIs 
  • Able to create fully automated tests suites across the test pyramid 
  • Experience with Gradle/Maven build tools 

It would be great if you also had:

  • Previous financial services experience 
  • AWS or other cloud provider experience 
  • Experience with GitHub Actions
