Authored by – Suhail Basit, Senior Technology Director and Operations Head, Middle East
This is a story from when I was in 7th grade in school. We were returning from a train journey with my family – my father, mother and my younger sister who would be about 11 years of age at the time. When we arrived at the railway station and were looking for a conveyance to get to our home, I remember my father insisting we choose a horse-drawn carriage instead of a taxicab. He knew that the slow but friendly carriages were being displaced by the new, shiny and fast cars that were painted mostly in bright yellow
It struck me deep inside. I was troubled with the thought that automation, while it spelt improvement and cost savings for customers, it also meant problems for the traditional businesses – and this story repeats itself over and over.
Since software technology is leading most of the changes around us, I think it is safe to conclude that the technology itself is changing the fastest..
