You are having data issues

Sorry to be so blunt, but that is the way it is. We might be even more specific: you are having data quality and integration issues. It might be your own data which is erroneous, incomplete, inconsistent, outdated, untraceable or all of the above, it might be data that you are receiving from someone else, or it might be that you should be receiving data but you aren’t.
On top of knowing that you have data issues, you also know that data is important. Your regulator told you so, by giving you ever increasing demands on data in the form of huge mandatory reports and the obligation to trace your data throughout the organization.
Your marketing department and many of your company’s client-facing departments are telling you the same, because data helps you understand your clients, helps you study their behavior and develop new products specifically for them. So you need to know a lot about your client and the market, which means you need to manage a lot of data. It does not stop at managing the data, you also need to put it together in the most amazing ways and have mind-boggling analysis results from that big (pile of) data.
So you put it all together
Because many parties will tell you that the only way to get the most out of your data is by putting it all into a big data warehouse, preferably an enterprise data warehouse. Everything sits together and everyone can use it when they need it.
You should break it up into a federation
In a federated data architecture, each business domain is responsible for the management of their data. They guarantee quality, consistency and completeness of the data, as well as the definition of the data.
