The Challenge

The client, a loss recovery and restoration expert needed a custom-built solution, precisely aligned to the needs of insurance adjusters, contractors and insured parties. This required the development of a complex application to provide real-time, online access to a Claim Valuation and Processing System for Insurance adjusters.

The specific challenges involved were as follows:

• To conceptualize, design and implement an automated loss management and damage valuation system.
• To build in an exhaustive pricing repository to enable convenient and accurate loss valuation, and damage assessment.
• To incorporate all the varied functionalities into the application while retaining a streamlined and scalable design and efficient and user-friendly features.
• To develop a specific utility, allowing valuation professionals to accurately make immediate, on-site evaluations for commercial and/or residential asset losses.

The Solution

Synechron partnered with the Inergy Group, a premier design & information architecture firm, based in CT to provide an end-to-end solution. Synechron utilized a combination of incisive Domain understanding and astute Technical capabilities to meet the client's needs and expectations. Our expert team at Synechron carefully reviewed and studied the client's business environment to gain an in-depth knowledge of the process flows and the industry requisites.

The Client's requirements were addressed in the following ways:

• Synechron developed the "Smart Contents System", an inventory processing mechanism involving a robust streamlined database of residential assets. The system provides Insurance Adjusters, Contractors and Insured Parties with specific asset loss quotes for Replacement pricing, Restoration pricing, Depreciation values and more.
• Synechron's Smart Contents System allowed identification of content attributes, manufacturer and model identifiers, with in-built user functionality to provide accurate and instant replacement or restoration pricing.
• Synechron developed a "pricing spider" to automatically search for and provide Vendor specific pricing information, based on asset attributes, manufacturer, model and system configuration. Synechron development experts also enabled quartile and average pricing methods to determine the most accurate quotes, thus significantly reducing the element of subjectivity involved in pricing a claim
• Synechron developed the application in a highly customized and streamlined fashion, allowing the client to re-design or upgrade the front-end interface without impacting the code/business tier.
• The Synechron technical team used the basic structure provided by the client to conceptualize and develop specific, user-friendly functionalities.
• The ongoing phase involves building an "Offline Data Access" ability into the system, using a scaled down version of the application installed on the laptop or a PDA. The module will use advanced database synchronization features to merge the offline local databases to the main production database, hence automating the entire process.

The Result

The client obtained a potent and effective means of showcasing their product line and enhancing and enriching end user experience via the new site leveraging all the advantages of a custom built marketing interface tool with user-friendly features for maximum convenience, easy operability and enduring competitive advantage.
